Chic Rock Glam in NYC's Time Square
Pineapple Party in Times Square
I am obsessed with this caged neckline right now. I notice it every time I see someone rockin it. And that's just what this look is all about. A little bit of grunge, rock and roll with a little chic. I absolutely loved wearing this in my favorite city in the whole world, New York City. I was visiting about 6 weeks ago, introducing my baby boy, Brooks to the USA on Fox and Friends. It was such an honor! And bub wasn’t even phased by the lights, etc. I feel so lucky - Producers had my 3 month old on the telly for five different days. It was awesome. And here's a funny little tidbit... He did a massive poooooo live on the air that the microphones picked up. haha! It will be a great story to tell at his wedding one day. As for this look... The top is by People's Project LA. The sequin skirt is by Lavender Brown Clothing.
Kendrick Slaughter from KK Bloom styled me for this shoot and says, " Pairing a little grunge and glam is one of my favorite ways to style. I love to mix textures that compliment each other. New York is one of my favorite places in the world. It has a magic to it that is explainable. Anna's look is perfect for a casual night out. This skirt , would seem to most, way to dressy for the city streets. But, by pairing it with an unexpected distressed tee, it allows you to play with your look and wear it just about anywhere. Add some chunky gold jewelry to accessorize."
Spreading Sunshine in the World's Best Cities
Somehow fruity details in fashion make an outfit more fun. Am I right?! The inspo for this look comes from my nickname, Anna Banana. This bag is by Kate Spade. Given the recent news, I treasure this bag even more. It’s from her ‘That’s Bananas’ range. Pretty much anytime I see anything banana... I get it. Have to have it! I will wear this bag until until it falls apart! As for the whimsical pineapple sweater, I think it is just so cute without being too 'cutesy' if you know what I mean. It's my Show Me Your Mumu. The white jeans are by 7 for all Mankind. The gold flats are by Tory Burch.
Rust Brown + Black = Chill
How's it going everyone?! I'm so pumped to be spending the next 10 days in Asia. I'll be in Tokyo, Seoul, and Beijing before heading back to Sydney. I wanted to go ahead and get these New York City pictures up before I start doing some travel blogging because the boutique I collaborated with in Charlotte is so awesome and I want you ladies to be able to pick up these goodies before they're gone! How perfect are the sunnies BTW!?! They can be dressed up or down. If you happen to live in the Queen City, go check out The Pink Hanger. If not, you can shop the look using the shop style links I've put together for you below! The white, open shoulder top is by Three Eighty Two. The black cutoff shorts are by Blank NYC. The sunnies are by YHF Los Angeles. The red bag, jewelry and shoes are my own. Clutch is Gucci, heels are Vince Camuto, and jewelry is J Crew.
Finding Grace with Lace
Rust brown is actually one of my favorite colors. I have a hard time finding it tho. So whenever I do... I pretty much buy it... whatever it is. My favorite way to wear rust brown/copper is with black. These black cutoffs are Rag and Bone. Simple. Good. I seem to wear this color combo when I'm in chill mode or going to a concert. Saturday Jammin in Space Dye
A little lace adds a bit of grace and femininity to just about any outfit, doesn't it? This is one of my favorite lace tops because it can be dressed up or dressed down. It can be worn snapped or unsnapped. The ankle crop, skinny jeans are Paige Denim. The knotted gold choker necklace is actually a combo of several thin strands linked together for a multi-level look. The houndstooth heels are incredibly comfy because of the chunky heel and angle of the slope. The turquoise watch is Michael Kors. It is part of their 100 series that helps feed the Hungry. Each 100 series watch = 100 nutritious meals for kids in hunger-stricken areas around the world. Last but certainly not least- the wool, woven, orange, shoulder bag is a family heirloom I guess you could say. My mom made it herself back in the 1970's. She held on to it and passed it down to me. So special. What a lady. I love to wear accessories that have a story behind them! Scroll down to get the look! I've handpicked some goodies from ShopStyle I think you'll love! Cutoffs, Crop Tops, and Sunset Chasing
Saturday jammin in space dye! Does that remind you of a certain Michael Jordan movie?! This outfit has me dancin' and so did that movie! I've been obsessed with space dye for ages! Space dye is cool because it gives the appearance of a strong texture and often it is smooth to the touch. This teal top is cool because it also fades from teal to white and switches to a flowy material at the bottom. It also has a peekaboo hole across the back. It is from Anthropologie. I paired them with casual, lace-up, suede shorts for a flirty earthy look. Here's your chance... do your dance... at the Space _____, alright!? FILL IN THE BLANK :-) Scroll down to shop the look! Fairy Dancing in Batiked Blue Vest, Wooden and Crocheted Necklaces, and Golden Kicks
Knock. Knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana Who? Knock Knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana who? Knock. Knock. Who's there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad I didn't say banana!?!
My dad used to tell me that joke along with loads of other corny favorites. I guess that's who I get my silliness from. One of his many nicknames for me is Anna Banana. So I think that's also what would make me giggle!
This look reminded me of that joke because of the saturated gorgeous orange color in this bohemian dress.... and because the bag is by Guanabana. Are you picking up what I'm putting down!?! haha! The embroidered dress is from Bondi Markets. There is a lovely boutique, Flamingo Merchant, in there quite regularly with a sweet girl who runs it. The tassel necklace is also from Bondi Markets. Hope you enjoy the handpicked goodies in this post!
Black and White Crop Top and Black Cutoffs
This snap comes from the Charlotte backyard where I grew up! My mom spends so much time out in her secret garden. It's magical. This batiked blue vest is such a statement piece. It's so fun when the wind is blowing. It makes me feel like a little girl experiencing the twirl for the first time. ;-) The vest, blue tank, and golden shoes are all from Anthropologie. The jeans are Paige. The wooden necklace came from a yoga studio in New York City. The brightly colored crochet necklace is from some markets in Melbourne. The jute tassel earrings are from Bondi Markets. PHOTO: Anna Kooiman, Charlotte, NC, Eben Patten Photography
Mint Green Gauze Embroidered Dress, Yoga Beads, Bright Boho Bag, Pom Pom Sandals
Such a perfect look for an evening walkabout around Bondi Beach! Black and white crop top with black cutoff shorts. The crop hits at just the right spot for a tummy peekaboo! The pink ad blue... fun in the sun backdrop is a portion of the Bondi graffiti wall. Local artists show off their talent here and visitors are constantly stopping to take fun pics like these! Cheese! ;-) As for the threads... The top and the shorts are from General Pants. The red lipstick is Estee Lauder. PHOTO: Anna Kooiman, Bondi Beach, Lyndon Marceau
Pom Poms and Tassels Peasant Top
One of my favorite weekend activities in my new home is to go to the Bondi Markets. This dress is from a local market boutique called Flamingo Merchant. I love the mint green color. When I was a little girl my favorite Crayola crayon was called, "Sea Foam Green" - but I didn't think everyone would know what the color actually looked like if I put it in the title of this post! LOL These pompom sandals are sure to get you a million compliments... and girls on the street asking where you got em... If you buy a pair from the links below... when ladies ask.... Tell em' Anna sent you! hahahahah! As for this cute bag... I got it at some markets in Hong Kong when I was visiting my sister-in-law who lives there. And the yoga beads are from a yoga studio in New York City. Below you will find some mint green embroidered dresses, pompom sandals, detailed boho bags, and tassel necklaces all hand picked by me. Enjoy!
Soaking up the sunrise in Bondi Beach in my favorite peasant top. ;-) I can't get enough of pom poms, and tassels right now... and have always been a huge fan of embroidery and the color fuchsia!
